Serving the Ventura and LA Metro areas, Safeguard and Swim is a mobile private swim school founded by Trever Bamber in 2024. Our mission is teach a love of water for life, and bring you the confidence you need to have fun in the water!

Trever’s journey began in the summer of 2019, when he attended a job fair and was approached by a local swim school offering him a position as a lifeguard. While working poolside, he was given the opportunity to teach swim lessons—and quickly discovered a passion for both lifeguarding and instructing.

After a year of gaining valuable experience, Trever transitioned into private lifeguard and swim instruction in 2020. For four years, he worked one-on-one with families, providing personalized, at-home swim education. In 2024, after a brief return to a well-known swim school, Trever realized it was time to build something of his own—and Safeguard and Swim was born.

Trever’s vision was clear: to offer year-round, flexible swim lessons guided by a proven curriculum designed to help children and adults become confident, safe swimmers.

At Safeguard and Swim, we know that drowning is the number one cause of accidental death in children and teens under the age of 14. It’s a heartbreaking and preventable tragedy. Our goal is to change that statistic—one swimmer at a time. Drowning can happen in just seconds and in as little as two inches of water. That’s why we’re committed to making water safety a top priority for every family we serve.

Trever Bamber

CEO/Founder

Hi, I’m Trever Bamber, the Founder and CEO of Safeguard and Swim. With over six years of experience in both lifeguarding and swim instruction, I’ve had the privilege of working with swimmers of all ages and skill levels. My passion lies in helping others build confidence in the water and develop a lifelong love for swimming.

I’m professionally certified in Lifeguarding, CPR, and AED, and deeply committed to water safety. I launched Safeguard and Swim with a clear mission: to reduce drowning incidents through high-quality, flexible, and year-round swim instruction.

According to the CDC, drowning is the leading cause of unintentional injury death for children ages 1–4 and the second leading cause for children ages 5–14. These heartbreaking statistics fuel my drive to make a difference. By emphasizing both safety and skill, my goal is to equip every student—child or adult—with the knowledge and confidence they need to stay safe in and around water for life.
